Leisure Batteries
12V leisure and dual-purpose batteries for Land Rover camping, overland and auxiliary-power installations, including sealed calcium and AGM batteries for split-charge systems, lighting, fridges, inverters and other accessories.
Start with the intended electrical load and available battery space, then compare battery technology, Ah capacity, cold cranking performance, dimensions and terminal layout. The charging system must also be suitable for the battery type being fitted.

Find the right leisure battery
Leisure and dual-purpose batteries are selected by the electrical load they need to support, the available installation space and whether the battery will also be used for engine starting. Higher Ah capacity provides more stored energy, while the CCA rating matters when starting performance forms part of the job.
| Job | Best place to start | Check before ordering |
|---|---|---|
| General auxiliary and camping power | Hankook XV27 90Ah dual-purpose sealed calcium battery | Available space, left-hand positive layout, dual terminals and charging-system compatibility |
| Compact AGM auxiliary installation | Optima Yellow Top YTS 4.2 55Ah AGM battery | 254 × 175 × 220mm case size, left-hand positive layout and required capacity |
| Higher-capacity AGM starting and auxiliary use | Optima Yellow Top YTS 5.5 75Ah AGM battery | 325 × 165 × 238mm case size, battery-box clearance and terminal position |
Check leisure battery fitment before ordering
A 12V battery can have suitable capacity but still be wrong for the installation. Check the physical case size, terminal position, battery retention and charging arrangement as well as the published Ah and CCA ratings.
Consider the lights, fridge, inverter, charging equipment and other accessories the battery will need to supply.
Measure the available length, width and height, including clearance above the terminals.
Check terminal position, post type and cable reach before selecting the battery.
Confirm that the split-charge system, charger or vehicle charging arrangement is suitable for sealed calcium or AGM battery construction.
Sealed calcium and AGM leisure batteries
The current leisure-battery section contains dual-purpose batteries rather than basic starter batteries. These combine engine-starting capability with improved support for repeated accessory use, although capacity, cycling ability and physical dimensions differ between products.
| Battery type | How it is used |
|---|---|
| Sealed calcium dual-purpose battery | A conventional maintenance-free battery combining starting performance with auxiliary and seasonal leisure use. |
| AGM dual-purpose battery | Combines strong cranking performance with greater resistance to repeated discharge and recharge cycles. |
| Main and auxiliary battery installations | Product dimensions, capacity, terminal layout and charging arrangement determine whether the battery suits the intended position and job. |
