Land Rover oils, grease and fluids for engine servicing, gearboxes, transfer boxes, differentials, automatic transmissions, power steering, ACE, brakes and cooling systems, together with workshop lubricants, additives and sealants.

Start with the vehicle system and the exact specification required, then check viscosity, fluid type and pack size on the product page before ordering. The same Land Rover can use several different oils and hydraulic fluids, and products with a similar viscosity or colour are not automatically interchangeable.

Find the right Land Rover oils and fluids

Land Rover oils and fluids are normally selected by the component being serviced and the specification it requires. Start with the engine, gearbox, transfer box, axle or hydraulic system, then use the product description to confirm the specification, viscosity and quantity needed.

Job Best place to start Check before ordering
Engine servicing and oil changes Land Rover engine oil Engine type, required oil specification, viscosity and service quantity
Manual gearbox, transfer box and differential servicing Land Rover gear oil The exact gearbox, transfer box or axle and its required fluid specification
Automatic gearbox and power steering servicing ATF and steering fluid Whether the fluid is required for the automatic transmission, power steering or another hydraulic system
Discovery 2 Active Cornering Enhancement Discovery 2 ACE fluid Confirm that the vehicle has the ACE hydraulic system and use the specified ACE fluid
Brake and clutch hydraulic servicing Land Rover brake fluid The required DOT specification and the quantity needed for bleeding or fluid replacement
Cooling-system filling and coolant changes Land Rover antifreeze and coolant Vehicle and engine, coolant specification and whether the product is concentrate or ready mixed
Wheel bearings, swivel housings and general greasing Land Rover grease The component being lubricated and whether it requires bearing, moly, swivel or assembly grease
Cleaning, flushing and freeing seized components Additives and flushes or spray lubricants Use products intended for the engine, cooling system, fuel system or mechanical component being treated
Engine building and initial assembly Engine assembly lubricants The components being assembled and the lubricant instructions supplied with the product
Gasket, flange and exhaust sealing Land Rover sealants Joint type, operating temperature, fluid exposure and whether silicone, anaerobic or exhaust sealant is required
Windscreen washer maintenance Land Rover screenwash Mixing instructions, seasonal protection and washer-bottle capacity

Check oil and fluid specification before ordering

Viscosity is only one part of choosing the correct lubricant. The required specification, approval, fluid type and vehicle system must also match. Two products can carry a similar viscosity grade while being intended for completely different engines, gearboxes or axles.

Vehicle and component
Confirm the vehicle, engine, gearbox, transfer box, axle or hydraulic system being serviced.
Specification first
Match the specification or approval stated in the handbook, workshop information or product fitment details.
Viscosity and fluid type
Check the complete viscosity grade and whether the product is engine oil, gear oil, ATF, hydraulic fluid, coolant or grease.
Quantity and pack size
Check the system capacity and allow for the amount required when draining, flushing or replacing associated filters.

Compare Land Rover oil and fluid details

Brand is important, but it does not replace the need to match the correct specification. Individual product pages identify the viscosity, specifications, approvals, intended vehicle systems and pack size where that information is available.

Product detail Why it matters
Specification or approval The main technical check when matching a lubricant or fluid to the engine, transmission or hydraulic system.
Viscosity Describes the fluid grade but does not by itself confirm that the product is correct for the vehicle.
Vehicle and system fitment Shows whether the product is intended for an engine, gearbox, transfer box, axle, steering, ACE, braking or cooling system.
Concentrate or ready mixed Important when ordering coolant, screenwash and other products that may require dilution before use.
Pack size Use the stated capacity and pack size to calculate the amount required for a service, refill or top-up.
