Antifreeze & Coolant
Antifreeze and coolant concentrate for Land Rover cooling-system servicing, including STC50529 OAT coolant for TD5 and later OAT systems, and Ravenol ETC C12evo Si-OAT coolant for selected older Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic cooling systems.
Start with the vehicle, engine and required coolant specification, then check the product page for coolant technology, pack size and mixing ratio. Coolant colour alone does not confirm compatibility, and all products in this section are concentrates that must be mixed with suitable water before filling.

Find the right antifreeze and coolant
Coolant should be selected by vehicle specification and the type already used in the cooling system. Once the correct coolant has been identified, choose the pack size according to whether the job is a small top-up, normal coolant change or full refill after cooling-system repairs.
| Job | Best place to start | Check before ordering |
|---|---|---|
| Defender TD5 or Discovery 2 TD5 coolant change | STC50529 OAT coolant concentrate | Confirm the system requires STC50529 OAT coolant and calculate the mixed quantity needed |
| Later Land Rover OAT cooling system | Ravenol OTC C12+ where STC50529 or the stated OAT specification is required | Match the coolant specification to the vehicle and engine rather than relying on coolant colour |
| Older Defender, Discovery 1 or Range Rover Classic | Ravenol ETC C12evo where its Si-OAT specification is suitable for the cooling system | Check the vehicle specification and existing coolant type before changing products |
| Radiator, water pump, thermostat or hose replacement | The correct coolant concentrate with enough quantity for a complete refill | Check total cooling-system capacity and whether the system will be fully drained |
| Small coolant top-up | The same coolant product and specification already present in the system | Do not mix an unidentified or incompatible coolant merely because the colour appears similar |
Check coolant compatibility before ordering
Land Rover coolant requirements vary by vehicle, engine and cooling-system specification. Previous servicing also matters because an older vehicle may no longer contain the coolant originally specified. Where the existing coolant is contaminated, mixed or unknown, draining and flushing the system is preferable to adding another product.
Identify the exact engine and cooling-system specification rather than selecting coolant from the Land Rover model name alone.
Match STC50529, OAT, Si-OAT or the other stated specification to the vehicle servicing information.
Coolant colour is not a reliable specification check. Confirm what is already in the system before topping up or mixing products.
These coolants require dilution with distilled or demineralised water. Calculate the mixed quantity needed for the complete cooling system.
Compare the coolant products
The current range covers STC50529 OAT systems and selected classic Land Rover cooling systems requiring a compatible Si-OAT coolant. The product specification remains more important than the colour printed on the bottle or the age of the vehicle alone.
| Coolant product | Main use | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Ravenol OTC C12+ / STC50529 | TD5 and other Land Rover cooling systems requiring STC50529 OAT coolant | OAT coolant concentrate supplied in 1.5-litre and 5-litre pack sizes |
| Ravenol ETC C12evo | Selected older Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic cooling systems where its Si-OAT specification is suitable | Modern Si-OAT coolant concentrate; do not describe or select it solely as a generic conventional coolant |
| 1.5-litre concentrate | Smaller coolant changes, top-ups and keeping the correct product available for future use | Check the final mixed volume produced at the required concentration |
| 5-litre concentrate | Complete coolant changes and refilling after cooling-system repairs | Calculate the vehicle capacity before deciding whether one container is sufficient |
