Description
The LT230 transfer box is tough, but by now most units are old enough to have a few leaks. A proper reseal is the best way to deal with tired gaskets and hardened oil seals, especially if you already have the transfer box out for other work. This OEM LT230 gasket and seal kit (RTC3890G) brings together the main paper gaskets and oil seals you need in one box. It is suitable for all common LT230 variants used in Defender, Discovery 1, Discovery 2 and Range Rover Classic models. Using a matched kit saves time compared with ordering each gasket and seal individually and helps ensure you do not miss anything during assembly.

When to use this kit
This gasket and seal set is ideal when:
- Overhauling or rebuilding an LT230
- Swapping a used unit and wanting to reseal it before fitting
- Dealing with long-term oil leaks from the casing or output flanges
- Combining with new bearings and shafts as part of a full refresh
- Replacing the gaskets and seals together is far more effective than trying to chase leaks one at a time.

Fitting notes
A clean work area and plenty of brake cleaner or solvent will make the job easier.
- Thoroughly degrease the mating faces before fitting new gaskets and seals
- Use a light smear of suitable sealant only where the workshop manual recommends it
- Inspect the output flanges and shafts for wear in the seal running areas and replace if needed
- Always refill with the correct grade of transfer box oil and check for leaks after the first road test

Warranty
Buy with confidence: all new parts sold by Twinwoods 4x4 include at least 12 months manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.
Some products and brands may include a longer warranty period where this is provided by the manufacturer. Where applicable, this will normally be stated on the individual product page or covered by the manufacturer’s own warranty terms.
Warranty cover applies to manufacturing defects. It does not cover misuse, incorrect fitting, competition use unless stated, contamination, modification, damage during installation, normal wear and tear, or failure caused by an unrelated vehicle fault. For certain components, proof of professional fitment may be required.
Warranty claims may require the part to be returned for inspection and/or supplier testing before the claim is accepted. Any advance replacement is discretionary.
Warranty remedies relate to the part itself, meaning repair or replacement, or refund if those are not possible. Warranty does not cover labour, removal or refitting, diagnostics, consumables, travel or other incidental costs.
