Description
ZF Lifeguard Fluid 6 is the dedicated semi-synthetic automatic transmission fluid developed by ZF for compatible 6HP automatic gearboxes. Its friction characteristics are matched specifically to the transmission, helping maintain smooth shift quality and vibration-free operation while providing the thermal and oxidation stability needed inside a hard-working automatic gearbox. For Land Rover 6-speed ZF fitments using TYK500050, this is the ZF-branded fluid from the manufacturer of the transmission itself.
The 6HP is not a gearbox to fill with a generic ATF simply because the viscosity looks similar. Fluid friction behaviour forms part of the way the clutches and hydraulic control system operate, and ZF specifies Lifeguard Fluid 6 for the relevant 6HP transmission families.

Later vehicles in these model ranges can use ZF 8HP automatic transmissions, which require a different fluid. Confirm the gearbox type before ordering rather than selecting the ATF from the vehicle model alone.
ZF 6HP Oil Change
Despite the familiar lifetime-fill wording associated with these transmissions, ZF currently recommends an oil change after 150,000 km – approximately 93,000 miles. ZF also states that shorter intervals can make sense where the gearbox has operated under high temperatures or heavy loads, or where the vehicle’s previous use and service history are unknown.
ZF specifies that containers up to 20 litres should be shaken vigorously for at least 15 seconds before the oil is dispensed.

Warranty
Buy with confidence: all new parts sold by Twinwoods 4x4 include at least 12 months manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.
Some products and brands may include a longer warranty period where this is provided by the manufacturer. Where applicable, this will normally be stated on the individual product page or covered by the manufacturer’s own warranty terms.
Warranty cover applies to manufacturing defects. It does not cover misuse, incorrect fitting, competition use unless stated, contamination, modification, damage during installation, normal wear and tear, or failure caused by an unrelated vehicle fault. For certain components, proof of professional fitment may be required.
Warranty claims may require the part to be returned for inspection and/or supplier testing before the claim is accepted. Any advance replacement is discretionary.
Warranty remedies relate to the part itself, meaning repair or replacement, or refund if those are not possible. Warranty does not cover labour, removal or refitting, diagnostics, consumables, travel or other incidental costs.
This warranty is in addition to your legal rights and does not reduce those rights.
