Rechargeable workshop lighting for Land Rover servicing, roadside checks and general garage work, including wide-area LED work lights, magnetic inspection lamps, an under-bonnet light and a compact pocket floodlight.

Start with the area that needs lighting, then compare light output, beam type, mounting method, run time, charging connection and overall size. High-output work lights cover a broad working area, while smaller magnetic and pivoting lamps are easier to position around confined components.

Find the right workshop light

Workshop lighting is normally selected around coverage and positioning. A broad floodlight suits an engine bay, workbench or larger repair area, while a smaller inspection lamp is easier to place close to the component being worked on.

Job Best place to start Check before ordering
Lighting a broad workshop or repair area 2000-lumen rechargeable work light Check maximum output, beam angle, brightness settings, mounting arrangement and overall dimensions
Combining a floodlight with a longer-range spotlight 1000-lumen work light and spotlight Compare the flood and spotlight outputs, beam distances, stand, magnets, hooks and run time
Close inspection around confined components Magnetic inspection lamp with end torch Check the pivoting head, magnetic base, hanging hooks, end-torch output and charging equipment
Lighting the complete engine bay Rechargeable under-bonnet inspection lamp Check the adjustable mounting range, light output, run time, battery arrangement and overall weight
Keeping a compact light in the toolbox or vehicle Rechargeable pocket floodlight Check output settings, magnetic mounting, stand adjustment, run time and weather resistance

Check workshop lighting before ordering

The highest lumen figure is not automatically the best light for every job. Beam shape, mounting, physical size and battery life can matter just as much when working inside an engine bay, beneath the vehicle or around restricted components.

Light output and beam
Compare maximum output with the type of beam provided. Floodlights illuminate a broad area, while spotlights and end torches concentrate light into a smaller space.
Mounting and positioning
Check for magnetic feet, hooks, rotating stands, pivoting heads or under-bonnet brackets according to where the light needs to sit.
Battery and run time
Compare run time at the required brightness setting, charging time and whether the light uses USB-C, Micro USB, mains or vehicle charging equipment.
Size and working conditions
Check the dimensions, weight and stated protection rating where the light will be carried in the vehicle or used outside the workshop.

Work lights and inspection lamps

Lighting type Typical use
Wide-area work lights Broad illumination around engine bays, wheel arches, workbenches, campsites and roadside working areas.
Inspection lamps Closer lighting around individual components, wiring, pipework and restricted areas where a large work light is difficult to position.
Under-bonnet lights Even lighting across the complete engine bay without balancing a portable lamp on surrounding components.
Pocket floodlights Compact lighting that can remain in the toolbox or vehicle for smaller jobs, roadside checks and general outdoor use.
