Choose the correct TD5 head gasket
TD5 head gasket choice is based on gasket thickness and hole identification rather than Defender or Discovery 2 fitment. All three gaskets fit both vehicles; the important difference is the thickness shown by the dot marking on the visible gasket tab.

Check gasket thickness before ordering
Replacing the existing gasket like for like is straightforward when the identification tab remains visible. Engine machining or an uncertain previous rebuild changes the decision and calls for proper measurement rather than relying on the gasket already fitted.
