If you run a Defender, you’ll probably know the feeling of catching your belt or pocket on the door catch as you climb out – sometimes hard enough to rip clothing completely. These X-Trouser door strikers from X-Eng are a simple, permanent fix for that problem.
The original Defender door catch has a sharp profile that loves to hook onto loose clothing. X-Trouser strikers use a much smoother, rounded shape so your trousers slide past instead of snagging, while still allowing the latch to work as normal. Many users also find that the door actually shuts more positively once the X-Trouser strikers are fitted.
Supplied as a handed pair, the kit is designed so you can fit one striker to the driver’s door and one to the passenger door on right- or left-hand-drive vehicles. The same design also suits the rear side doors on 110 Station Wagon models, giving you full protection for all the main passenger doors.

Fitting:
X-Trouser door strikers replace the original door catches on the B-pillar. Mark around the existing catch before removal to help you line up the new striker in the same position. If the door is slow to latch after installation, small adjustments in striker position normally correct it – start by loosening the bolts and moving the striker a fraction at a time.
On some vehicles you may see witness marks where the latch has been rubbing on the plastic sleeve of the striker; this can be used as a guide for fine adjustment. A light spray of grease or dry lubricant on the latch and striker will keep everything moving smoothly.
