Workshop Consumables & Chemicals
Workshop consumables and chemicals for Land Rover servicing, repairs and vehicle care, including brake and electrical cleaners, penetrating oils, spray lubricants, engine treatments, assembly lube, screenwash, de-icer and protective coatings.
Start with the job, component or surface, then check the product page for intended use, pack size, concentration, material compatibility and any drying or curing requirements. Cleaners, lubricants, additives and coatings perform different jobs and should be selected accordingly.

Workshop chemicals support the repair rather than replacing the correct part or procedure. Identify whether the job needs cleaning, lubrication, corrosion release, engine treatment, assembly protection, seasonal vehicle care or a protective coating before selecting the product.
| Job | Best place to start | Check before ordering |
|---|---|---|
| Cleaning brakes, clutch parts and oily components | Brake, clutch and electrical cleaner in an aerosol or 5-litre workshop container | Check the surface, application method and whether a fast-drying residue-free cleaner is required |
| Freeing seized fasteners and lubricating moving parts | Penetrating oil, light spray lubricant or PTFE spray grease | Decide whether the job needs corrosion penetration, a light protective film or longer-lasting grease |
| Engine cleaning and oil-system treatment | Engine cleaner or hydraulic valve lifter treatment | Check whether the product is used before an oil change or remains in the engine oil after treatment |
| Internal engine assembly | Engine assembly lubricants | Use a dedicated engine-build lubricant on the components specified by the rebuild procedure |
| Electrical contact cleaning | Dedicated contact cleaner or oxidation-removal spray | Check suitability for electrical contacts and the surrounding plastics, seals and insulation |
| Windscreen cleaning and winter preparation | Concentrated screenwash and aerosol de-icer | Check the screenwash dilution ratio and temperature protection required for the season |
| Surface restoration and protective coating | Headlight restoration kits and tintable protective coating systems | Check kit contents, surface preparation, colour or tint requirements and application method |
Check the product type before ordering
Several products may be used during the same repair, but they are not interchangeable. A penetrating oil helps dismantling, cleaner prepares the component, lubricant protects moving parts and a coating or sealant remains after assembly. Use the product instructions together with the repair requirements.
Identify the component being cleaned, dismantled, lubricated, treated or coated before selecting the chemical.
Check whether the product is a cleaner, penetrating oil, lubricant, engine treatment, assembly product or coating.
Choose between a small aerosol or treatment bottle and a larger workshop container according to the job and expected use.
Check the product instructions before use on paint, plastics, rubber, electrical components or friction surfaces.
Compare workshop chemical groups
| Product group | Main use | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Cleaners and degreasers | Removing oil, brake dust, dirt and contamination before inspection or assembly | Select the cleaner according to the component and surrounding materials |
| Penetrating oils | Freeing rusted nuts, bolts, clamps, threads and seized fittings | Designed to creep into corrosion rather than provide lasting lubrication after assembly |
| Spray lubricants and grease | Hinges, catches, locks, cables, linkages and other moving components | Light lubricating sprays and thicker spray greases leave different films on the component |
| Engine treatments | Oil-system cleaning and treatment of hydraulic valve lifters | Follow the stated dosage and whether the treatment is drained or left in the engine oil |
| Assembly lubricants | Protecting internal engine components before normal oil pressure is established | Specialist engine-build lubricant rather than general grease or service engine oil |
| Seasonal vehicle care | Screenwash, windscreen cleaning and ice removal | Check concentration, dilution ratio and low-temperature protection |
| Restoration and coatings | Restoring headlights and applying protective surface coatings | Preparation, application equipment and curing requirements form part of the buying decision |
