Our main recommendation is the STC4096LG later-spec kit. It gives you the combination most people are actually looking for: a Dayco timing belt, INA tensioner and idler, and the later one-piece crank gear setup for a proper 300TDI timing belt replacement.

If you want to keep the job cost down, the STC4096LK gives you a lower-cost route while still using a Dayco belt. If you specifically want a Gates PowerGrip belt, the full Gates kit is the right option and includes INA bearings and the later one-piece crank gear setup.

The 300TDI timing belt, tensioner and idler should be changed every 72,000 miles or 6 years. It is also worth replacing them on vehicles that have been parked up for long periods.
