Description
Discovery 2 ZF 4HP22/24 automatic gearbox oil and filter service kit built around the fluid we put in the gearboxes ourselves. The kit combines an OE-quality RTC4653K filter, sump gasket and seals with 6L of Ravenol ATF 5/4 HP, a synthetic ATF developed specifically for ZF 4HP and 5HP automatic transmissions and recommended against Land Rover STC4863, ATF LT 71141 and ZF S671 090 170. If the sump is coming off and the filter is being changed, the fluid is not the place to economise: it is the oil that remains inside the transmission lubricating the gearbox, operating the hydraulic system, controlling clutch friction and carrying heat away long after the service is finished.
Why Ravenol ATF 5/4 HP?
For a healthy Discovery 2 automatic gearbox, a proper oil and filter service with the right fluid is one of the most worthwhile maintenance jobs you can do. Compared with a service kit built around a general mineral Dexron III ATF, Ravenol ATF 5/4 HP gives the ZF gearbox a much more transmission-specific fluid. It is made for the ZF 4HP and 5HP families, including the 4HP22 and 4HP24, rather than being a general-purpose ATF selected simply because it falls within a broad fluid specification.
Ravenol gives this fluid high thermal and oxidation stability, stable friction behaviour, wear protection, resistance to corrosion and foaming, good low-temperature lubrication and strong cooling performance. Those are exactly the properties an automatic transmission asks of its oil. The filter and gasket matter, but Ravenol ATF 5/4 HP is the main reason we build the complete Discovery 2 service kit this way and why it is our preferred fluid for the ZF automatic gearbox.

The kit contains 6L of Ravenol ATF 5/4 HP for a normal sump-off oil and filter service. A routine service does not drain the torque converter or remove the complete dry-fill quantity from the transmission. Additional Ravenol ATF 5/4 HP is available separately where further drain-and-refill cycles are planned.

Twinwoods 4x4 ships Land Rover parts across the UK and around the world. We regularly send parts overseas and use trusted tracked courier services so UK and international customers can order with confidence.
Standard UK shipments are normally sent with DPD. UK orders containing oils or fluids are normally sent with DHL where required, because some carriers restrict liquid shipments.
Worldwide delivery is available through DPD and DHL Express, depending on the destination, parcel size, weight and available courier services. Add the parts you need to your basket, enter your delivery address, and the checkout will show the available delivery options and prices before payment.
Free mainland UK postage and packaging is available on eligible orders over £99, subject to our delivery terms and conditions.

Warranty
Buy with confidence: all new parts sold by Twinwoods 4x4 include at least 12 months manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.
Some products and brands may include a longer warranty period where this is provided by the manufacturer. Where applicable, this will normally be stated on the individual product page or covered by the manufacturer’s own warranty terms.
Warranty cover applies to manufacturing defects. It does not cover misuse, incorrect fitting, competition use unless stated, contamination, modification, damage during installation, normal wear and tear, or failure caused by an unrelated vehicle fault. For certain components, proof of professional fitment may be required.
Warranty claims may require the part to be returned for inspection and/or supplier testing before the claim is accepted. Any advance replacement is discretionary.
Warranty remedies relate to the part itself, meaning repair or replacement, or refund if those are not possible. Warranty does not cover labour, removal or refitting, diagnostics, consumables, travel or other incidental costs.
