Defender Td5 front propshaft UJ replacement
This GKN universal joint fits Defender front propshafts from chassis 1A612404 and is the branded replacement option for STC4807G. It is commonly sold as a 95mm propshaft UJ, although the joint itself measures 92.1mm.
Replace the propshaft UJ if there is play, roughness, vibration, knocking on drive take-up or visible wear in the joint. A worn UJ should not be ignored, as continued use can put extra strain on the propshaft and surrounding drivetrain components.
When removing the front propshaft, check the propshaft bolts and nyloc nuts before refitting. The propshaft nut and bolt kit is available separately if the original fixings are rusty, rounded or no longer suitable to reuse.
