Td5 MAP sensor fault symptoms and quality notes
The Td5 MAP sensor measures inlet manifold absolute pressure and inlet air temperature. The ECU uses this data when calculating fuelling, boost response and engine load.
A failing or contaminated Td5 MAP sensor may not stop the engine from running, but it can send inaccurate readings. Symptoms can include flat spots, poor throttle response, excess smoke, reduced fuel economy, limp mode under load or boost-related fault codes.
These symptoms can also be caused by boost leaks, wastegate issues, intercooler hoses, wiring faults or other sensor problems, so diagnosis should not rely on the MAP sensor alone.
Sensor quality matters because the ECU relies on stable, accurate readings. A lower-grade sensor can be a false economy if its pressure or temperature readings are inaccurate, slow or inconsistent. This Bosch sensor is the quality option for a standard Td5 setup where correct sensor data matters for drivability and fuelling.
If your Td5 feels like you are driving a 2.5 non-turbo, the MAP sensor is a good place to start checking.

Buy with confidence: all new parts sold by Twinwoods 4x4 include at least 12 months manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.
Some products and brands may include a longer warranty period where this is provided by the manufacturer. Where applicable, this will normally be stated on the individual product page or covered by the manufacturer’s own warranty terms.
Warranty cover applies to manufacturing defects. It does not cover misuse, incorrect fitting, competition use unless stated, contamination, modification, damage during installation, normal wear and tear, or failure caused by an unrelated vehicle fault. For certain components, proof of professional fitment may be required.
Warranty claims may require the part to be returned for inspection and/or supplier testing before the claim is accepted. Any advance replacement is discretionary.
Warranty remedies relate to the part itself, meaning repair or replacement, or refund if those are not possible. Warranty does not cover labour, removal or refitting, diagnostics, consumables, travel or other incidental costs.
