TD5 sensor faults can produce overlapping symptoms, including poor starting, cutting out, reduced performance, smoke, incorrect boost control and implausible live-data readings. Use diagnostic fault codes and live data alongside wiring and connector checks before replacing the sensor being tested.

Check TD5 sensor fitment before ordering
These sensors measure different information. The MAP sensor reads manifold pressure, the MAF sensor measures intake airflow and the AAP sensor reads atmospheric pressure.
Match the original part number and connector before ordering, particularly where early, late or 4-pin sensor variants are stated.
Most engine-mounted TD5 sensors fit both vehicles, but the Defender and Discovery 2 water-in-fuel sensors are different parts.
The 4-bar MAP sensor is an uprated tuning component and requires an ECU map calibrated for its pressure scaling. It is not a standard replacement MAP sensor.
