Correct timing pins matter on a TD5. Drill bits, random punches and “close enough” pins are not a good substitute when the camshaft and crankshaft position need to be held accurately.

Description
Laser TD5 timing locking pin set for Defender TD5 and Discovery 2 TD5 engines. The kit supplies the two main special-tool equivalents needed for TD5 timing work: the camshaft/crankshaft timing pin and the flywheel locking pin. It belongs with the tools used for cylinder head work, front cover work, timing chain jobs and any TD5 engine work where the valve timing has been disturbed.

Fitment Notes
Always follow the Land Rover workshop procedure when using timing pins. The pins locate the engine for timing work; they should not be used as force points, and the engine must not be rotated or started with the pins fitted.
