Description

Td5 viscous fan spanner set – one spanner locates over the pulley bolts and the other onto the 36mm fan nut.  This is a much easier method of removing the fan rather than using primitive methods such as chisels and other improvised hand tools which will damage the nut/bearing and ultimately make removing and installing the fan harder each time.

Each spanner is made from high quality 6mm carbon steel and Nitrotec treated for wear and corrosion resistance to provide many years of service.  Nitrotec is not a coating (like cheap zinc plating) it is a treatment process and will not come off.  The process also adds some hardening to the tool.  Each spanner is designed to be flat for easy storage in tool boxes or safely stowed away in the vehicle and incorporates hanging holes.  They are not designed to be pretty, we haven’t plastered our name all over them and the surface treatment is functional.

Tip: If the viscous fan is particularly stubborn and the use of a mallet is required please be aware of your fingers and also use a copper faced or rubber/deadblow mallet so as to reduce damage to the spanner.  When re-installing the viscous fan a light spray of oil is recommended on the threads.

  • 6mm high quality steel
  • Nitrotec N40 treatment
  • 320mm handle length

Care

Minimal maintenance is required (even our bare steel prototypes have not rusted) however an occasional wipe with oil will help just the same as you would do with any hand tools.  Tools should be stored in a clean and dry environment.  If the tool is subjected to excessive water then it can be gently cleaned, dried and re-oiled.

Warranty

These tools have been designed to be suitable for daily professional use (but not abuse).  We provide a 2 year warranty on all our in-house manufactured tools.  If you have any issues with your product then please contact us.

Benefits of Nitrotec:

  • Wear Resistance
  • Corrosion Resistance
  • Increased Yield Strength
  • Indentation Resistance
  • Extended Product Life

What is Nitrotec®?

Nitrotec® (nitriding-oxidising-protection) is a patented thermo-chemical diffusion process, during which the surface of steels, is nitrocarburized and next oxidized and cooled.  Nitrotec® combines the useful properties of the nitrocarburizing (improved surface hardness and wear resistance, enhanced fatigue strength, no material distortion) with the high resistance against atmospheric corrosion, increased yield strength and an almost-black finish.

In short this process adds hardening, strength and corrosion resistance.  Additionally as this process is a treatment not a coating it won’t come off.  This finish is far superior to zinc plating which, although cheaper, will come off over time and expose the steel to the elements since the zinc is sacrificial.  Zinc coating is prettier though.

Twinwoods 4x4 own products and workshop-led kits

These products sit alongside our main branded Land Rover parts range. They are used where a complete kit, improved part choice or clearer specification is more useful than buying individual catalogue parts separately. The range is focused on practical Land Rover repair work rather than generic accessories, with parts selected around the jobs we know and the problems we regularly see on Defender, Discovery and Td5 vehicles.

Warranty

All parts sold by Twinwoods 4x4 are covered by a minimum 12 month warranty against manufacturing defects.

Some products and brands may carry a longer warranty period where this is provided by the manufacturer. Where applicable, this will normally be stated on the individual product page.

The warranty covers manufacturing defects only and does not cover failure caused by incorrect fitting, misuse, accidental damage, normal wear and tear, or faults elsewhere on the vehicle.

Warranty claims may require the part to be returned for inspection and testing before any repair, replacement or refund is authorised.

This does not affect your statutory rights.
