Description
Budget front axle ball joint kit for Discovery 2 and Range Rover P38, supplied with the four upper and lower joints required for both sides plus two OE-quality driveshaft oil seals. Worn front axle ball joints can cause steering play, knocking, creaking, poor self-centring, uneven tyre wear or excessive movement during an MOT inspection.
Replacing the ball joints involves substantial front axle dismantling and pressing the old joints from the axle yokes. This price-led kit covers the complete front axle and includes new driveshaft oil seals for both sides, avoiding the need to source the main components separately once the axle is apart.

Important fitment and returns note:
These are correct-size press-fit ball joints. Land Rover workshop guidance states that each ball joint location should only be replaced up to three times before the axle yoke bore may become oversize, with a paint mark added after each replacement. In practice, many older Discovery 2 axles no longer have a clear visible replacement history. If a new joint feels loose in the housing, the axle yoke bore should be checked carefully for wear before assuming the ball joint is faulty.
If you think there may be a fitment issue, please stop before pressing the joints fully into place or marking them further. Ball joints returned after attempted fitting must be in clean, resaleable condition. Parts that have been pressed in, marked, damaged, contaminated, or returned in packaging no longer suitable for resale may not be eligible for a full refund. If a returned ball joint is found to be correct and the fitment issue is due to wear, damage or an enlarged axle yoke bore, it will not be treated as a faulty part. This does not affect your statutory rights.
Front wheel alignment should be checked and adjusted after the ball joints have been replaced.

Polyurethane replacement ball joint boots are available separately for Discovery 2. New CDU1534L driveshaft stake nuts should also be fitted during reassembly, with two required when replacing the ball joints on both sides.

Some products and brands may include a longer warranty period where this is provided by the manufacturer. Where applicable, this will normally be stated on the individual product page or covered by the manufacturer’s own warranty terms.
Warranty cover applies to manufacturing defects. It does not cover misuse, incorrect fitting, competition use unless stated, contamination, modification, damage during installation, normal wear and tear, or failure caused by an unrelated vehicle fault. For certain components, proof of professional fitment may be required.
Warranty claims may require the part to be returned for inspection and/or supplier testing before the claim is accepted. Any advance replacement is discretionary.
