Td5 auxiliary belts vary depending on whether the vehicle has air conditioning (AC) and, on Discovery 2, whether it has Active Cornering Enhancement (ACE). The important step is identifying the correct setup first, then choosing the belt you want.

Which Td5 Auxiliary Belt Do I Need?

No Defender models were fitted with ACE, so ACE-only fitment applies to Discovery 2 only.

How do I know which belt I need?

Check whether your Td5 has air conditioning. On Discovery 2, also check whether it has ACE. You may also find the 7PK belt size printed on the existing belt, although old markings can become hard to read over time.

How often should I inspect a Td5 auxiliary belt?

Check the belt regularly for cracking, fraying, glazing or rib damage, ideally at every service. Belts deteriorate with age as well as mileage, so visible wear matters more than trying to stretch replacement intervals.

Should I carry a spare Td5 auxiliary belt?

If you use your Td5 for long trips, towing, greenlaning or travel away from home, carrying a spare auxiliary belt is sensible. If the belt fails, you lose power steering, alternator charge and water pump drive, so it is the sort of failure that can ruin a journey quickly.

Gates is our preferred premium option where available, with Micro-V belts designed for small pulleys and backside idlers, with EPDM construction aimed at controlling noise and tension loss.
