Td5 Exhaust Manifold Stud Kits for Defender & Discovery 2

Td5 exhaust manifolds commonly loosen/warp over heat cycles, especially on hard-worked or tuned engines. These kits are designed as a more robust alternative to standard OEM fixings, using grade 8.8 part-threaded engineers studs and high-temperature all-metal lock nuts.

Choose your kit

Heavy Duty (standard fitment)

  • Best for: standard and mildly tuned Td5s
  • Setup: standard manifold fitment (no spacers)
  • What you get: extended-length vs OEM grade 8.8 studs + copper-coated flanged all-metal lock nuts + turbo-side gaskets/fasteners

Ultimate (extended stud + spacer setup)

  • Best for: vehicles using the spacer setup, or repeated loosening/warping history
  • Setup: extended studs with stainless spacers (the spacer-style arrangement)
  • What you get: extended studs + stainless spacers + copper-coated flanged all-metal lock nuts + turbo-side gaskets/fasteners

What’s different?

  • The Ultimate kit includes the stainless spacers and longer studs to suit the spacer setup.
  • The Heavy Duty kit is the simpler, standard fitment option (no spacers).

Recommended with these kits

  • Td5 exhaust manifold gasket (sold separately due to size/packaging)
  • A small amount of high-temperature anti-seize (nut-side threads)
  • If tuned: EGT monitoring helps prevent repeat manifold issues

Installation essentials

  • Stud orientation: shorter threaded end into the cylinder head, longer end outward for the manifold/nut stack.
  • Clean/chase head threads first and keep debris out of the holes.
  • Studs should run in by hand and be seated finger-tight only (do not bottom out).
  • Tighten evenly across ports; replace lock nuts if the locking action has reduced on reuse.
