Find the right TD5 exhaust manifold parts
TD5 exhaust manifold work normally starts with leaking joints, broken or loose studs, a warped manifold face or a manifold that has already been repaired too many times. The correct starting point depends on whether the original manifold is being retained, replaced with a standard casting, modified for better heat-cycle movement or upgraded for a harder-worked engine.

Check the manifold and stud arrangement
The manifolds and fixing kits in this section fit Defender TD5 and Discovery 2 TD5 engines, but they do not all use the same hardware arrangement. Match the stud kit to the manifold rather than assuming the most elaborate kit is correct for every installation.

Supporting TD5 exhaust parts
Manifold removal also disturbs the turbo and exhaust joints around it. Check the manifold gasket, turbo-to-manifold gasket, turbo-to-downpipe seal, turbo oil feed washers, turbo drain gasket and fixing nuts before starting the job. The Twinwoods stud kits include the smaller turbo gaskets and hardware stated on their individual product pages, but the main manifold gasket remains separate unless the manifold product specifically includes it.
