Description
Replacement LT230 transmission brake shoe fitting kit
ICW100050 is the brake shoe fitting kit for later LT230 drum-type transmission handbrake assemblies with the direct cable-entry setup. It is used with the transmission brake fitted to Defender, Discovery 1, Discovery 2, Range Rover Classic and P38 applications.
The springs, pins and retainers inside the transmission brake are often rusty, stretched or weakened by age and road dirt. Replacing the fitting hardware when fitting new shoes helps the handbrake shoes locate correctly and reduces the chance of dragging, uneven movement or poor handbrake adjustment.
While the transmission brake is apart, check the shoe linings, handbrake drum, adjuster, backing plate and rear output area for oil contamination. New fitting hardware will only work properly if the rest of the handbrake assembly is serviceable and clean.
