Description
The TD5 fuel pressure test kit is designed specifically for Land Rover Td5 engines, covering both Discovery 2 and Defender models. The Td5 fuel system is one of the few systems that cannot be fully diagnosed electronically, making a physical pressure test essential to confirm the system is working correctly and to avoid unnecessary parts replacement.
How to use the kit:
- Remove your fuel temperature sensor from the fuel pressure regulator.
- Install the test probe and attach the gauge hose using the quick-release couplings.
- The Dowty washer supplied with the probe should be good for a few tests, but spares are included.
- This kit allows you to check fuel pressure with the engine either running or not.
A normal reading should be approx. 4 bar or slightly above. To test the actual output of the pump, clamp the return hose: a reading of 7 bar or more confirms a healthy pump.
The kit has been designed so that the engine can be run with the hose detached and the adaptor still fitted. The hose is long enough that if you need to, you can drive with the gauge attached. When removing the probe, ensure the adaptor is being undone, not the probe itself.

Care: As with any tool when not in use we recommend it is wiped with tool wipe/light oil and stored in a clean dry area. The test kit should be stored with the probe ATTACHED and with the protective cap in place.
