Ravenol ATF 5/4 HP is a dedicated synthetic automatic transmission fluid for the ZF 4HP22 gearbox fitted to Discovery 2 TD5 and V8 automatic models. Formulated specifically for ZF 4HP and 5HP transmissions, it combines stable friction behaviour with strong thermal, oxidation, corrosion and foam protection. Ravenol recommends it against Land Rover STC4863, ATF LT 71141 and ZF S671 090 170, making it our ultimate gearbox oil for the Discovery 2 automatic rather than another general-purpose ATF.

Ravenol treats ATF 5/4 HP as a specialist transmission fluid that should be selected by gearbox family and fluid reference rather than by comparing viscosity figures with a general-purpose ATF.

A routine oil change does not drain all the fluid from the torque converter. The Discovery 2 automatic gearbox oil and filter service kit therefore includes 6L of Ravenol ATF 5/4 HP together with the gearbox filter components needed for a normal sump-off service.
