Defender and Discovery 2 TD5 remapping
A good TD5 remap should improve the way the vehicle drives without losing sight of how it is actually used. Everyday road vehicles, working Defenders, tow vehicles and more heavily modified TD5 engines do not all need the same calibration.
Gary considers the vehicle specification, existing modifications and intended use before carrying out the tuning. Standard engines can benefit from improved throttle response, stronger mid-range performance and more usable power, while modified engines can be calibrated around supporting upgrades such as intercoolers, intake changes, exhaust systems and turbo work.

Planning a TD5 performance upgrade
Not every TD5 needs a long list of modifications. A well-maintained standard vehicle may only need a carefully developed remap, while a more ambitious build can involve the intercooler, intake, exhaust, turbo, fuelling and clutch as part of one complete package.
