Description

Discovery 2 front propshaft repair kit built around three GKN greaseable 75mm universal joints and a new double-cardan centre bearing kit. The front propshaft uses one universal joint at the differential end and two more in the double-cardan joint at the transfer box end. Replacing all three joints and the centre bearing allows a serviceable original propshaft to be fully rebuilt rather than replaced as a complete assembly.

Kit Contents

  • 3 x GKN greaseable 75mm universal joints
  • 1 x double-cardan centre bearing
  • 1 x centre bearing spring
  • 1 x centre bearing oil seal

Vehicle Fitment

  • Discovery 2 TD5
  • Discovery 2 V8
  • Manual and automatic transmission
  • Front double-cardan propshaft

Related Propshaft Parts

If the original propshaft has damaged yokes, worn splines or is no longer suitable for rebuilding, the Discovery 2 front propshaft is available as a complete replacement. See Land Rover universal joints and propshaft service parts for individual joints, centre bearing kits, grease and related parts.

GKN Driveline Parts

GKN driveline parts for Land Rover propshaft, universal-joint and CV-joint repairs, including complete propshafts, greaseable UJs, CV boot kits and double-cardan repair parts.

Start with the vehicle, front or rear propshaft position and the component being replaced. Older Land Rovers may have replacement shafts or driveline parts fitted, so check the original part number, joint dimensions, flange arrangement and kit contents before ordering.

Find the right GKN driveline part

GKN is an established driveline manufacturer covering propshafts, universal joints, CV joints, boots and related repair parts. Match the replacement to the component actually fitted, particularly where a Land Rover has been rebuilt, converted or fitted with a later replacement propshaft.

Job Best place to start Check before ordering
Replace a complete propshaft GKN propshaft for the correct vehicle and driveline layout Confirm the front or rear position, vehicle, engine, wheelbase, flange arrangement and original part number
Rebuild a propshaft GKN universal joint or propshaft repair kit Measure the joint, confirm the bearing-cap diameter and check whether the propshaft uses a single or double-cardan joint
Repair a Discovery 2 front propshaft GKN double-cardan repair kit or individual GKN universal joints Check whether the universal joints, centre ball-seat parts or the complete repair set are required
Replace a CV joint boot GKN boot kit matching the original CV joint and axle fitment Confirm the vehicle, axle position, original part number and exact contents of the kit
Compare GKN and Hardy Spicer parts Use the stated brand and physical product markings Some universal joints and propshaft parts may be described as GKN Hardy Spicer because of the shared driveline history

Check driveline fitment before ordering

Vehicle, year and VIN information can narrow the choice, but it may not confirm which propshaft, CV joint or universal joint is currently fitted. Replacement shafts, rebuilt components and conversions can differ from the original factory specification.

Propshaft or axle position Confirm whether the part fits the front or rear propshaft, or the relevant axle and CV joint position.
Component actually fitted An older Land Rover may have a replacement, rebuilt or upgraded propshaft that differs from the original vehicle specification.
Universal-joint dimensions Measure across the bearing cups and confirm the bearing-cap diameter. Nominal 75mm, 82mm and 95mm joints are not interchangeable.
Part number and kit contents Use the original part number together with the product description. Check whether bearings, boots, circlips, seals or other fitting parts are included.

GKN driveline quality

GKN Automotive supplies driveline products to vehicle manufacturers and positions its aftermarket range around OE-quality components. Individual Twinwoods product pages identify the exact GKN part, fitment, dimensions and included components rather than applying one broad quality claim to every product.

Product group How it is shown on Twinwoods 4x4
GKN propshaft Complete branded propshaft supplied for the vehicle, position and driveline fitment stated on the product page.
GKN universal joint Branded greaseable UJ identified by its dimensions, propshaft position and replacement part number.
GKN propshaft repair kit Repair kits identify the supplied universal joints, centre-bearing parts and other included components.
GKN CV joint or boot part CV components and boot kits are identified by the relevant axle, joint and original part-number fitment.
GKN Hardy Spicer Used where Hardy Spicer supply information and GKN product markings both help identify the part.

GKN and Hardy Spicer

Hardy Spicer became part of GKN’s automotive driveline business, which is why the names sometimes appear together on Land Rover propshafts and universal joints. Some products are supplied directly as GKN, while others are supplied as Hardy Spicer or described as GKN Hardy Spicer.

The brand and product title on each Twinwoods page identify how the individual part is currently supplied.

Delivery

Twinwoods 4x4 ships Land Rover parts across the UK and around the world. We regularly send parts overseas and use trusted tracked courier services so UK and international customers can order with confidence.

Standard UK shipments are normally sent with DPD. UK orders containing oils or fluids are normally sent with DHL where required, because some carriers restrict liquid shipments.

Worldwide delivery is available through DPD and DHL Express, depending on the destination, parcel size, weight and available courier services. Add the parts you need to your basket, enter your delivery address, and the checkout will show the available delivery options and prices before payment.

Free mainland UK postage and packaging is available on eligible orders over £99, subject to our delivery terms and conditions.

Returns
Up to 60-day returns Change-of-mind return carriage at your cost Check fitment before ordering
Extended 60-day returns. In addition to your statutory rights, eligible products can be returned for up to 60 days from delivery. Our extended returns policy automatically applies to individual products purchased for less than £250 including VAT. Products costing £250 or more may still be accepted for return at our discretion.
Please choose carefully before ordering. Check part numbers, fitment and suitability before purchase. Please do not order parts simply to try them or on the assumption that they can be fitted and then returned if unsuitable.
  • Changed your mind within 14 days? UK and EEA consumers have statutory cancellation rights. Tell us within 14 days of receiving your order, then return the goods within the following 14 days.
  • Need longer? Eligible products can be returned under our voluntary extended returns policy. Contact us within 60 days of delivery and, once the return has been agreed, send the goods back within 14 days.
  • Extended returns must be unused, unfitted, complete and suitable for resale as new. Goods must be undamaged, unmarked and uncontaminated, with all components and accessories supplied and their original product packaging where this formed part of the supplied product.
  • A £10 handling charge applies to extended returns. This is charged once per return consignment, regardless of how many eligible products are returned together. It does not apply where your statutory cancellation rights apply.
  • Return carriage and safe packing are your responsibility for change-of-mind returns.
  • Managed UK returns: where suitable, we can provide a convenient prepaid tracked return service with straightforward drop-off, proof of handover and tracking linked to your return. The cost will be advised before it is arranged and may be deducted from your refund.
  • Please do not fit or attempt to fit a part unless you intend to keep it. Fitting, attempted fitting, contamination, damage or excessive handling can substantially reduce the value of the goods. A product which has been fitted or used will not normally qualify for our voluntary extended returns policy.
  • Faulty, damaged or incorrectly described? Contact us first. We will advise the appropriate return method and will normally provide a prepaid return service or cover reasonable agreed return costs.
Returning it yourself? Please use a tracked, insured return service appropriate to the value and nature of the goods, pack and address the parcel correctly, and retain sufficient evidence to identify and trace the return. You remain responsible for the goods until they reach us.

Returns – quick FAQs

How long do I have to return an item?
Eligible products can be returned for up to 60 days from delivery under our voluntary extended returns policy.

For UK and EEA consumers, statutory change-of-mind cancellation rights also apply: tell us within 14 days of receiving your order, then return the goods within the following 14 days.
Which products qualify for 60-day returns?
Our extended returns policy automatically applies to individual products purchased for less than £250 including VAT.

Products purchased for £250 or more are not automatically covered, although we may agree to accept them for return at our discretion. Eligibility is based on the price of each individual product rather than the total order value.
Is there a charge for an extended return?
Returns made under our voluntary extended returns policy are subject to a £10 handling charge per return consignment, regardless of the number of eligible products returned together.

This charge does not apply where the return is being made under your statutory cancellation rights.
Who pays return carriage?
For change-of-mind returns, return carriage and safe packing are your responsibility. Where suitable, we can provide a prepaid tracked return service and advise the cost before it is arranged.

If an item is faulty, damaged or incorrectly described, contact us first. Where return is reasonably required, we will normally provide a prepaid return service or cover reasonable return costs agreed with us.
What condition must an extended return be in?
Goods returned under our extended returns policy must be unused, unfitted, complete and suitable for resale as new. They must be undamaged, unmarked and uncontaminated, with all components and accessories supplied and their original product packaging where this formed part of the supplied product.
Can I fit a part and then return it?
Please check fitment and suitability before installation. Please do not fit or attempt to fit a part unless you intend to keep it.

Once a part has been fitted or an attempt has been made to fit it, it may be marked, contaminated, damaged or otherwise unsuitable for resale as a new part. Fitted or used goods will not normally qualify for our voluntary extended returns policy.

Where statutory cancellation rights apply, handling beyond what is reasonably necessary to inspect the goods may result in a reduction to your refund if it has reduced their value.
What if the item is faulty?
Contact us before returning it. Where a return is reasonably required for a faulty, damaged or incorrectly described item, we will normally provide a prepaid return service or cover reasonable return costs agreed with us.
Are any items excluded from 60-day returns?
Products purchased for £250 or more including VAT are not automatically covered by our extended returns policy, although we may agree a return at our discretion.

Extended returns must also meet the condition requirements above. Statutory exclusions and any separate statutory rights continue to apply as set out in our full Terms & Conditions.

Warranty

Buy with confidence: all new parts sold by Twinwoods 4x4 include at least 12 months manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.

Some products and brands may include a longer warranty period where this is provided by the manufacturer. Where applicable, this will normally be stated on the individual product page or covered by the manufacturer’s own warranty terms.

Warranty cover applies to manufacturing defects. It does not cover misuse, incorrect fitting, competition use unless stated, contamination, modification, damage during installation, normal wear and tear, or failure caused by an unrelated vehicle fault. For certain components, proof of professional fitment may be required.

Warranty claims may require the part to be returned for inspection and/or supplier testing before the claim is accepted. Any advance replacement is discretionary.

Warranty remedies relate to the part itself, meaning repair or replacement, or refund if those are not possible. Warranty does not cover labour, removal or refitting, diagnostics, consumables, travel or other incidental costs.

This warranty is in addition to your legal rights and does not reduce those rights.
