Defender 90 non-ABS brake bias valve replacement
NTC8836 is the brake bias valve for later Defender 90 non-ABS models with 300TDI or Td5 engines. It is used from VIN LA930456 and controls rear brake pressure as vehicle load and suspension movement change.
Replace the brake bias valve if the original unit is leaking, seized, badly corroded or causing brake balance issues. A faulty valve can contribute to poor rear braking, rear brake lock-up, uneven braking or MOT brake imbalance problems.
This valve is for Defender 90 non-ABS models only. It is not suitable for ABS-equipped vehicles, Defender 110 / 130 models or later Puma TDCI Defenders. Check the vehicle layout and VIN range before ordering, especially if the braking system has been modified in the past.
Brake hydraulic parts are safety-critical. Inspect the surrounding brake pipes, unions, flexible hoses, linkage and mounting area while replacing the valve, then bleed the system thoroughly with fresh brake fluid.
