RAVENOL DTF-1 is a fully synthetic PAO-based specialist transfer box fluid for electronically controlled Land Rover transfer systems requiring IYK500010, TF-0753 or TF-0870. It combines controlled friction behaviour with stable viscosity, wear protection and resistance to corrosion and foaming, making it specifically suited to the active transfer boxes fitted to relevant Discovery 3, Discovery 4 and Range Rover Sport models.
Specialist Fluid for Later Land Rover Transfer Boxes
These transfer boxes need a dedicated fluid rather than a conventional gearbox or differential oil selected purely by viscosity. The electronically controlled transfer system depends on the correct friction characteristics as well as normal lubrication and wear protection, which is why DTF-1 occupies a separate place from the oils used in an LT230 transfer box.
RAVENOL DTF-1 is our Ravenol fluid for Land Rover systems requiring IYK500010 and the associated TF-0753 or TF-0870 fluid specifications. Other Range Rover-family transfer boxes can use different fluids, so the transfer box specification remains the important reference when servicing later vehicles.

Brand
Ravenol
Ravenol is our main lubricant brand for Land Rover servicing, covering engine oils, manual and automatic gearboxes, transfer boxes, differentials, ACE and power steering, brake fluid, coolant, grease and specialist workshop fluids.
We use Ravenol because the range lets us select the lubricant around the actual engine, gearbox, axle or hydraulic system rather than relying on viscosity alone. The result is a deliberately selected Land Rover range in which every product has a defined job, from TD5 engine oil and R380 MTF-94 to specialist ZF ATF, LT230 oil, limited-slip differential oil and later transfer-box fluids. Why Twinwoods partners with Ravenol
Ravenol is a genuine German lubricant manufacturer, developing and producing its oils, fluids and greases in Germany. The range is backed by unusually detailed technical data, which matters to us because lubricant choice should be based on much more than the viscosity printed on the bottle. We use Ravenol in our service kits, recommend it for the Land Rovers we specialise in and use it in vehicles we work on ourselves. More importantly, the range gives us properly specialised products for different engines, gearboxes, transfer boxes, axles and hydraulic systems rather than trying to make one generic lubricant cover everything.Ravenol oils and fluids for Land Rover

More than the correct number on the bottle
Two oils carrying the same viscosity grade can be very different products. Base oil, additive chemistry, volatility, viscosity stability, friction characteristics and manufacturer specifications all affect how a lubricant behaves once it is hot and working inside the component. That is particularly important with Land Rovers. An R380 gearbox, LT230 transfer box, Rover differential, ZF automatic gearbox and electronically controlled later transfer box all place different demands on their lubricant. We select the Ravenol product around the component itself rather than simply finding the nearest familiar viscosity.Ravenol engine oil
Our Ravenol engine-oil range runs from traditional oils for 200TDI, 300TDI and classic petrol engines through to specialist oils for TD5, Defender Puma TDCI and later Land Rover engines. Ravenol VMO 5W-40 remains our main TD5 recommendation, RUP 5W-40 covers very highly tuned TD5 engines, Turbo-C HDC 15W-40 is our preferred oil for standard 200TDI and 300TDI engines, while FO, FLJ, VMP and SFE cover the relevant later engine and emissions-system requirements.Related Ravenol and oil sections

Twinwoods 4x4 ships Land Rover parts across the UK and around the world. We regularly send parts overseas and use trusted tracked courier services so UK and international customers can order with confidence.
Standard UK shipments are normally sent with DPD. UK orders containing oils or fluids are normally sent with DHL where required, because some carriers restrict liquid shipments.
Worldwide delivery is available through DPD and DHL Express, depending on the destination, parcel size, weight and available courier services. Add the parts you need to your basket, enter your delivery address, and the checkout will show the available delivery options and prices before payment.
Free mainland UK postage and packaging is available on eligible orders over £99, subject to our delivery terms and conditions.
- Changed your mind within 14 days? UK and EEA consumers have statutory cancellation rights. Tell us within 14 days of receiving your order, then return the goods within the following 14 days.
- Need longer? Eligible products can be returned under our voluntary extended returns policy. Contact us within 60 days of delivery and, once the return has been agreed, send the goods back within 14 days.
- Extended returns must be unused, unfitted, complete and suitable for resale as new. Goods must be undamaged, unmarked and uncontaminated, with all components and accessories supplied and their original product packaging where this formed part of the supplied product.
- A £10 handling charge applies to extended returns. This is charged once per return consignment, regardless of how many eligible products are returned together. It does not apply where your statutory cancellation rights apply.
- Return carriage and safe packing are your responsibility for change-of-mind returns.
- Managed UK returns: where suitable, we can provide a convenient prepaid tracked return service with straightforward drop-off, proof of handover and tracking linked to your return. The cost will be advised before it is arranged and may be deducted from your refund.

Returns – quick FAQs
How long do I have to return an item?
For UK and EEA consumers, statutory change-of-mind cancellation rights also apply: tell us within 14 days of receiving your order, then return the goods within the following 14 days.
Which products qualify for 60-day returns?
Products purchased for £250 or more are not automatically covered, although we may agree to accept them for return at our discretion. Eligibility is based on the price of each individual product rather than the total order value.
Is there a charge for an extended return?
This charge does not apply where the return is being made under your statutory cancellation rights.
Who pays return carriage?
If an item is faulty, damaged or incorrectly described, contact us first. Where return is reasonably required, we will normally provide a prepaid return service or cover reasonable return costs agreed with us.
What condition must an extended return be in?
Can I fit a part and then return it?
Once a part has been fitted or an attempt has been made to fit it, it may be marked, contaminated, damaged or otherwise unsuitable for resale as a new part. Fitted or used goods will not normally qualify for our voluntary extended returns policy.
Where statutory cancellation rights apply, handling beyond what is reasonably necessary to inspect the goods may result in a reduction to your refund if it has reduced their value.
What if the item is faulty?
Are any items excluded from 60-day returns?
Extended returns must also meet the condition requirements above. Statutory exclusions and any separate statutory rights continue to apply as set out in our full Terms & Conditions.
How do I start a return?
Please include your order number and a brief reason for the return. Do not send anything back until you have received the appropriate return instructions.
Buy with confidence: all new parts sold by Twinwoods 4x4 include at least 12 months manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.
Some products and brands may include a longer warranty period where this is provided by the manufacturer. Where applicable, this will normally be stated on the individual product page or covered by the manufacturer’s own warranty terms.
Warranty cover applies to manufacturing defects. It does not cover misuse, incorrect fitting, competition use unless stated, contamination, modification, damage during installation, normal wear and tear, or failure caused by an unrelated vehicle fault. For certain components, proof of professional fitment may be required.
Warranty claims may require the part to be returned for inspection and/or supplier testing before the claim is accepted. Any advance replacement is discretionary.
Warranty remedies relate to the part itself, meaning repair or replacement, or refund if those are not possible. Warranty does not cover labour, removal or refitting, diagnostics, consumables, travel or other incidental costs.
This warranty is in addition to your legal rights and does not reduce those rights.
