Description

Ravenol MTF-2 SAE 75W-80 is a PAO-based fully synthetic manual transmission oil for Land Rover R380 gearboxes requiring MTF-94 fluid. It carries API GL-4 and API MT-1 specifications and corresponds with Land Rover references STC9157, STC9158 and TYK500030. The low-viscosity formulation supports clean gear changes in cold conditions while maintaining a stable lubricating film, shear stability and wear protection under high mechanical and thermal load.

Why We Recommend Ravenol MTF-2 for R380 Gearboxes

The R380 needs the correct MTF-94 manual transmission fluid rather than the oil used in the LT230 transfer box or Rover differentials. Ravenol MTF-2 combines the required 75W-80 GL-4 formulation with good low-temperature shift behaviour and strong protection at operating temperature. It is a quality-led fully synthetic oil for routine R380 servicing, not simply a generic gearbox oil chosen by viscosity alone.

An R380 gearbox oil change normally uses approximately 2.5L, so three 1L bottles cover the normal service fill. The 1L container also has a built-in easy-pour spout to make filling through the side of the gearbox less awkward.

Warranty

Buy with confidence: all new parts sold by Twinwoods 4x4 include at least 12 months manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.

Some products and brands may include a longer warranty period where this is provided by the manufacturer. Where applicable, this will normally be stated on the individual product page or covered by the manufacturer’s own warranty terms.

Warranty cover applies to manufacturing defects. It does not cover misuse, incorrect fitting, competition use unless stated, contamination, modification, damage during installation, normal wear and tear, or failure caused by an unrelated vehicle fault. For certain components, proof of professional fitment may be required.

Warranty claims may require the part to be returned for inspection and/or supplier testing before the claim is accepted. Any advance replacement is discretionary.

Warranty remedies relate to the part itself, meaning repair or replacement, or refund if those are not possible. Warranty does not cover labour, removal or refitting, diagnostics, consumables, travel or other incidental costs.

This warranty is in addition to your legal rights and does not reduce those rights.
