Front brake pad fitting kit for early split-pin calipers
This STC8573 front brake pad fitting kit is for early Land Rover Defender and Discovery 1 solid front disc brake calipers using the split-pin retaining arrangement. On this caliper type, the split pins pass over the brake pads rather than using the later solid pins that pass through the pads.
Brake pad retaining hardware can become corroded, bent, weakened or difficult to remove during a pad change. Fitting fresh hardware avoids reusing tired pins and clips, and helps the pads sit correctly in the caliper.
This kit is not for the later solid pin-through-pad setup. If the calipers use solid retaining pins through the brake pads, use the STC8576-RTC5001 front brake pad fitting kit for solid discs instead.
Check the caliper and pad retaining arrangement before ordering. This is especially important on older Defenders and Discovery 1s, where brake calipers may have been changed during previous repair or upgrade work.

Some products and brands may include a longer warranty period where this is provided by the manufacturer. Where applicable, this will normally be stated on the individual product page or covered by the manufacturer’s own warranty terms.
Warranty cover applies to manufacturing defects. It does not cover misuse, incorrect fitting, competition use unless stated, contamination, modification, damage during installation, normal wear and tear, or failure caused by an unrelated vehicle fault. For certain components, proof of professional fitment may be required.
Warranty claims may require the part to be returned for inspection and/or supplier testing before the claim is accepted. Any advance replacement is discretionary.
Warranty remedies relate to the part itself, meaning repair or replacement, or refund if those are not possible. Warranty does not cover labour, removal or refitting, diagnostics, consumables, travel or other incidental costs.
