Find the right TD5 EGR bypass parts

Start with the job being carried out. Complete EGR bypass kits replace the original EGR valve assembly and normally include the related blanking parts, while individual stainless blanking plates cover the exhaust-manifold side of the conversion. The product page confirms exactly what is supplied with each kit.

Check TD5 EGR fitment before ordering

Defender TD5 and Discovery 2 TD5 models share the same basic engine family, but the EGR equipment and parts required can differ. Use the vehicle, engine version, original layout and stated kit contents together rather than ordering from the TD5 engine name alone.

Vehicle
Confirm Defender TD5 or Discovery 2 TD5 fitment on the individual product page.
EU2 or EU3
Check whether the kit fits EU2, EU3 or both TD5 EGR layouts.
Kit contents
Check for the bypass pipe, EGR gasket, manifold blanking plate, gasket, fixings and vacuum caps required for the job.
Boost gauge fitting
Check whether the bypass pipe includes a boost take-off and whether the gauge and connecting hose are included.

EGR removal and road use

EGR removal warning symbol

Removing or disabling manufacturer-fitted emissions equipment may make the vehicle unsuitable or unlawful for use on public roads and may result in an MOT or vehicle test failure.

MOT and emissions responsibility

Current MOT guidance treats emissions-control equipment fitted by the manufacturer that is missing, obviously modified or obviously defective as a major defect. EGR valves are among the visible emissions components that may be inspected.

Vehicle age, original specification and current test requirements can affect how an individual vehicle is assessed. Passing the exhaust smoke test does not necessarily mean that the removal of visible emissions equipment will be accepted.

The vehicle owner and installer are responsible for ensuring that any modification complies with current road-traffic, emissions and vehicle-testing requirements. Please check the legal and MOT position before fitting this kit to a vehicle used on public roads.

Twinwoods 4x4 cannot confirm the road legality or MOT acceptability of an individually modified vehicle.
