Heavy duty TD5 clutches for Defender TD5 and Discovery 2 TD5, covering towing, harder-working, remapped and higher-output vehicles. The range includes 500Nm and 650Nm organic clutches retaining the dual mass flywheel, plus a complete 500Nm solid-flywheel conversion kit.
The uprated clutch options are UK-built by specialist clutch manufacturer Clutchfix, with a Valeo replacement dual mass flywheel also available for vehicles retaining the original flywheel arrangement.

Which heavy duty TD5 clutch?
The three main clutch routes cover different torque requirements and flywheel arrangements. The 500Nm dual-mass clutch covers harder-working and remapped TD5s, the 500Nm solid-flywheel kit replaces the clutch and flywheel together, and the 650Nm dual-mass clutch is intended for VNT and higher-torque TD5 builds.

Dual mass or solid flywheel?
The 500Nm and 650Nm dual-mass clutches retain the original TD5 flywheel arrangement. They can be used with a serviceable existing DMF, or with a Valeo OEM TD5 dual mass flywheel where the flywheel also requires replacement.
The 500Nm solid-flywheel kit is the alternative complete replacement route. It includes both the heavy duty clutch and solid mass flywheel, so where the existing DMF also needs replacing there is no separate replacement dual mass flywheel to purchase.
500Nm or 650Nm?
The 500Nm clutch is the main heavy duty TD5 specification for towing, regular work use, larger tyres and remapped vehicles while retaining the DMF. The 650Nm clutch sits above it for VNT conversions and other higher-torque builds where the 500Nm rating is no longer appropriate. Both are organic clutch specifications and retain the dual mass flywheel.
