Ravenol MTF-2 SAE 75W-80 is a PAO-based fully synthetic manual transmission oil for Land Rover R380 gearboxes requiring MTF-94 fluid. It carries API GL-4 and API MT-1 specifications and corresponds with Land Rover references STC9157, STC9158 and TYK500030. An R380 oil change normally requires approximately 2.5L, making the 4L pack enough for a complete gearbox service with around 1.5L remaining.
Why We Recommend Ravenol MTF-2 for R380 Gearboxes
The R380 needs the correct MTF-94 manual transmission fluid rather than the oils used in LT230 transfer boxes or Rover differentials. Ravenol MTF-2 combines the required 75W-80 GL-4 formulation with good cold-shift behaviour, strong shear stability and a stable lubricating film under high mechanical and thermal load.
The larger 4L container is the straightforward pack for a complete R380 gearbox oil change. It avoids buying three separate 1L bottles while leaving spare oil available for topping up or future servicing.
