Description
The Ultimate TD5 manifold kit is built around the extended-stud and spacer setup used on TD5 exhaust manifolds to help maintain consistent clamping through repeated heat cycles. It is especially relevant for tuned Defender TD5 and Discovery 2 TD5 engines, where exhaust heat and manifold movement can put more load through the original manifold fixings.
The kit was designed around the common TD5 manifold issues, not assembled as a generic bag of studs and nuts. The stud form, spacer design and nut choice all matter because the TD5 exhaust manifold is heat-cycled hard and known for moving as it expands and contracts.
Part-Threaded Engineering Studs
The studs supplied are extended-length M8 x 1.25 grade 8.8 part-threaded engineering studs. They are not generic fully threaded studding or threaded rod cut to length. That matters because the engineering stud is doing more than simply filling a threaded hole. The head-side thread gives controlled engagement into the cylinder head, while the plain shank passes through the manifold and spacer stack for a cleaner load path than fully threaded rod. The limited threaded section also helps prevent over-inserting the studs into the cylinder head.

Copper-coated flanged locking nuts for exhaust use
The kit uses copper-coated steel flanged prevailing-torque lock nuts in M8 x 1.25, selected for exhaust manifold duty. Earlier versions of the kit used stainless Aerotight nuts; the current kit uses copper-coated steel locking nuts as the better all-round pairing on steel studs in long-term heat-cycled exhaust manifold use.

303 stainless spacers for the extended-stud setup
The Ultimate kit includes large-diameter precision-machined 303 stainless spacers. Their job is to support the extended-stud arrangement and help keep clamping more stable and even as the manifold expands and contracts. The spacers are not generic packing washers. They are part of the extended-stud setup and work with the part-threaded studs and flanged locking nuts to support the manifold fixing stack.

It can also include good specialist products that we have taken under our wing. Small manufacturers often make excellent components without having a recognised retail brand behind them. If we know the product, are happy with what is being supplied and are prepared to support it ourselves, we may sell it under the Twinwoods 4x4 name rather than pretend the maker's name adds anything useful.

A lot of Twinwoods 4x4 products start with a straightforward problem: the correct fixings are awkward to buy, a small seal is unavailable separately, a repair needs several parts from different sources, or an existing product can simply be better specified.
That is why the range includes everything from O-ring kits, copper washers, stainless fixings and component-specific bolt sets through to TD5 manifold hardware, service tools, test equipment, propshaft conversion kits and complete repair or upgrade packages. Twinwoods 4x4 ships Land Rover parts across the UK and around the world. We regularly send parts overseas and use trusted tracked courier services so UK and international customers can order with confidence.
Standard UK shipments are normally sent with DPD. UK orders containing oils or fluids are normally sent with DHL where required, because some carriers restrict liquid shipments.
Worldwide delivery is available through DPD and DHL Express, depending on the destination, parcel size, weight and available courier services. Add the parts you need to your basket, enter your delivery address, and the checkout will show the available delivery options and prices before payment.
Free mainland UK postage and packaging is available on eligible orders over £99, subject to our delivery terms and conditions.

Warranty
Buy with confidence: all new parts sold by Twinwoods 4x4 include at least 12 months manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.
Some products and brands may include a longer warranty period where this is provided by the manufacturer. Where applicable, this will normally be stated on the individual product page or covered by the manufacturer’s own warranty terms.
Warranty cover applies to manufacturing defects. It does not cover misuse, incorrect fitting, competition use unless stated, contamination, modification, damage during installation, normal wear and tear, or failure caused by an unrelated vehicle fault. For certain components, proof of professional fitment may be required.
Warranty claims may require the part to be returned for inspection and/or supplier testing before the claim is accepted. Any advance replacement is discretionary.
Warranty remedies relate to the part itself, meaning repair or replacement, or refund if those are not possible. Warranty does not cover labour, removal or refitting, diagnostics, consumables, travel or other incidental costs.
