Description
Defender 110/130 rear brake caliper pair with stainless steel pistons
This rear caliper pair fits Land Rover Defender 110 and 130 models from 2001 onwards using the later wide rear brake pads, SFP000250. You are buying the left and right rear calipers together, replacing SMC500270 and SMC500260.
These calipers can also be used on earlier Defender 110 and 130 vehicles when upgrading to the later rear brake caliper and pad design. If your vehicle has been modified or previously converted, check the existing rear calipers and pads before ordering.
These are standard replacement calipers modified to include stainless steel pistons. This gives a useful improvement over ordinary steel pistons, especially on working vehicles, tow vehicles and Land Rovers exposed to road salt, mud, water or long periods of standing.
Rear brake calipers are worth replacing when the pistons are corroded, the caliper is sticking, the pads are wearing unevenly, or the caliper is leaking. When fitting these calipers, check the rear brake discs, hoses, SFP000250 rear brake pads and brake fluid. Related rear brake service parts can be found in Defender rear brake parts.
After installation, bleed the braking system fully and check for correct pedal feel before road testing.
