Defender 90 rear brake caliper pair with stainless steel pistons
This rear caliper pair fits Land Rover Defender 90 rear brake applications. You are buying the left and right rear calipers together, replacing SMC500240 and SMC500110.
These are standard replacement calipers modified to include stainless steel pistons. This gives a useful improvement over ordinary steel pistons, especially on vehicles exposed to road salt, mud, water or long periods of standing.
Rear brake calipers are worth replacing when the pistons are corroded, the caliper is sticking, the pads are wearing unevenly, or the caliper is leaking. Replacing both rear calipers together keeps the braking setup balanced and avoids doing the same job again on the opposite side soon after.
When fitting new calipers, check the rear brake pads, discs, brake hoses and brake fluid at the same time. Related rear brake service parts can be found in Defender rear brake parts.
After installation, bleed the braking system fully and check for correct pedal feel before road testing.

Buy with confidence: all new parts sold by Twinwoods 4x4 include at least 12 months manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.
Some products and brands may include a longer warranty period where this is provided by the manufacturer. Where applicable, this will normally be stated on the individual product page or covered by the manufacturer’s own warranty terms.
Warranty cover applies to manufacturing defects. It does not cover misuse, incorrect fitting, competition use unless stated, contamination, modification, damage during installation, normal wear and tear, or failure caused by an unrelated vehicle fault. For certain components, proof of professional fitment may be required.
Warranty claims may require the part to be returned for inspection and/or supplier testing before the claim is accepted. Any advance replacement is discretionary.
Warranty remedies relate to the part itself, meaning repair or replacement, or refund if those are not possible. Warranty does not cover labour, removal or refitting, diagnostics, consumables, travel or other incidental costs.
This warranty is in addition to your legal rights and does not reduce those rights.
