Defender 90s are often used off-road, for towing or simply driven harder than Land Rover ever imagined. This POWERSpec kit is designed to give the rear brakes more bite and better heat control than standard parts, while still working perfectly on the road and MOT brake tester.
The kit includes parts to suit both early adjustable taper roller hubs and the later type with spacer, so you don’t need to worry which style your 90 currently has.

- 2 × POWERSpec rear brake discs – black-coated, dimpled and grooved
- 4 × POWERSpec rear pads (R90 approved)
- 1 × Rear brake fitting kit (springs, clips, pins etc.)
- 1 × Sachet high-temperature brake grease
- 2 × Rear hub seals
- 2 × Hub nuts and locking washers (to suit early/late setups)
- 2 × Drive flange gaskets
Fitting & bedding-in notes
- Clean all hub and flange faces carefully so the discs sit perfectly flat.
- Torque caliper bolts and hub nuts to the correct Land Rover specifications.
- After installation, follow a sensible bedding-in procedure: several gentle stops from moderate speed to bring the pads and discs up to temperature without holding the pedal on when stationary.
- Full performance arrives after ~200–300 miles of mixed driving.

- Rear wheel bearings and stub axles
- Rear flexi hose and brake pipes
- Condition of the handbrake and propshaft UJs if you’re chasing vibrations as well as better brakes
