Replacement lower coolant rail assembly for Discovery 2 Td5
This lower coolant rail assembly (PFV100120) fits Land Rover Discovery 2 Td5 engines. It is the lower metal coolant rail pipework that connects the coolant hoses in the Discovery 2 Td5 cooling system.
The most common issue with this rail is often around the coolant drain plug, but the rail itself can also suffer from corrosion, wear or pinhole leaks. If the original pipework is leaking, badly corroded or no longer sealing properly, replacing the complete rail is the cleaner repair.
When fitting, check the coolant drain plug, sealing washer, hose connections and surrounding coolant hoses. If the drain plug is reused, apply a small amount of suitable anti-seize paste to the threads. In practice, draining the coolant via a hose is often safer than relying on the drain plug, especially on older pipework.
