Defender and Discovery 2 Td5 alternator replacement
This 120A Td5 alternator is for Defender Td5 and Discovery 2 Td5 models using the vacuum-pump alternator arrangement. It is supplied as an alternator and vacuum pump assembly, replacing ERR6999 and equivalent part numbers including DAN670, 8EL015630-771 and LR006190.
A failing alternator can cause battery warning lights, weak or unstable charging, repeated flat batteries, slow cranking or electrical faults caused by low system voltage. On Td5 engines, the alternator also carries the vacuum pump, so oil contamination or vacuum pump failure can be part of the same repair area.
When replacing the alternator, check the condition of the oil feed hose to the vacuum pump. If the original pipe is corroded, cracked or weeping, the YKL100120SS Td5 alternator oil feed hose is a useful upgrade while access is available.
